Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy
Last updated: July 2026 · Next review: July 2027
Serious academic opportunity should not depend on who a student already knows or where they happen to come from. ScholarBridge is committed to treating every student, family, and mentor fairly, and to building a community where people from different backgrounds are welcome and supported.
Applies to: every student, parent or guardian, mentor, and member of staff, across all our programmes and interactions. It should be read alongside our Code of Conduct, which sets out how we respond when these standards are breached.
1. What we mean
Equality means treating people fairly and removing barriers that would otherwise hold some people back. Diversity means recognising and valuing the range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences people bring. Inclusion means making sure everyone can take part fully and feel that they belong.
2. Fair treatment for everyone
We are committed to treating people fairly regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion or belief, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, socio-economic background, or any other characteristic protected by law in the United States or the United Kingdom. Discrimination, harassment, and victimisation on any of these grounds have no place at ScholarBridge and are a breach of our Code of Conduct.
3. What we do
- Fair access: we assess applications on a student's readiness, interest, and potential, and we run financial-aid and sponsored routes so that cost is less of a barrier to serious academic work.
- Fair matching: we match students to mentors on academic fit, not on background.
- Inclusive mentoring: we ask mentors to teach in ways that support students from different educational systems and starting points, including international students.
- Reasonable adjustments: we will make reasonable adjustments to help a student with a disability take part, and we welcome families telling us what would help.
- Accessible materials: we work to make our website and materials usable by as many people as possible, as set out in our Accessibility Statement.
4. Raising a concern
If you experience or witness discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment connected with ScholarBridge, please tell us. You can raise it through our Complaints & Appeals Procedure, or, where it concerns the safety of a young person, immediately under our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy. No one will be treated less favourably for raising a genuine concern.
5. Responsibility and review
Everyone connected with ScholarBridge shares responsibility for upholding this policy. It is reviewed at least annually and updated as our community and practice develop.
